Located here after the 4
months of training we were
now graduates and trying to
acclimate. The session here
was to observe actual landings
by the amphibious groups from
bleachers on a lake. An
accident occurred in one of the
events which injured several
of the troop.
Great Lakes Training Center near Chicago ILL.  -- 5 weeks
Diesel engines and components used in the LST were studied intensely to prepare us for our
duty which in my case would be the LST 1138 which was located in San Diego Ca.

The base kitchen burned down in
January 1953 but  It did not affect
us  - we ate in another location
